Why President Buhari Postponed Zahra Buhari’s Marriage Will Leave You Speechless

Zahra Buhari’s wedding to Ahmed Indimi which was supposed to take place on December, 3, 2016 was reportedly postponed by her father, President Buhari. According to DailyTrust; “The wedding ceremony of Zahra, the 21 year old daughter of Pres. Buhari, earlier scheduled for this weekend has been postponed. The postponement is reported to be as a result of Pres. Buhari’s insistence on a low-key wedding as he is not comfortable with the attention the media is giving to his daughter’s wedding. There were media reports that the family of the groom, Ahmed Indimi, presented about 30 LV bags to the bride, Zahra. The 30 bags which allegedly cost about £120, 000 (approximately N47,144,502, using the official rate of N392.87 to a pound) are said to have been delivered in 30 exotic cars. Young Couple, Grandma and 8-Week-Old Infant Found Dead in Apparent Murder-Suicide in Alaska: Cops

Authorities are investigating an apparent murder-suicide after four bodies were found in a hotel room in Fairbanks, Alaska, on Friday, according to a statement released by the Fairbanks Police Department. Police responded to a call from hotel staff at the Hampton Inn regarding a “suspicious circumstance,” according to the statement. When they arrived, they found an adult male crying in the hallway before discovering four dead bodies. All were inflicted by gunshot wounds. Those individuals have been identified as 54-year-old Linda Hutton, 22-year-old Emily McDonald, 22-year-old McKay Hutton and 8-week-old Teagan Hutton. According to their Facebook pages, McDonald and McKay were married and parents and recently welcomed a child. The pair also shared several photos of themselves with a slightly older male child, but it is unclear how he is related to the couple. I truly understand what true love is thanks to you, thank you we are the few of the lucky ones.” In addition to multiple posts about McDonald and his family, McKay also shared a post on Facebook about defending the Second Amendment and a photo of himself in front of a “Don’t Tread on Me” flag. Ceci Bastida: “It’s a time to scream at the top of our lungs”

Ceci Bastida isn’t just singing the same old tune. Starting in the punk band Tijuana No!, known for the social criticism in their lyrics, Bastida continues to speak up musically—but on her own terms. Now, the Mexican solo arist is bringing light to social issues through stories. With her new Sueño EP out now, Bastida chats with Chica about the meaning behind her lyrics, president-elect Donald Trump, and the power of speaking up. Congrats on the release of your EP that dropped this month! Can you tell us more about the songs? It started with a song I wrote called Un Sueño. It was a song inspired by disappearances [happening] in Mexico and I asked Aloe Blacc to work on it with me. After that experience, I realized I wanted to collaborate with more people and see what would happen. I asked an incredible rapper/producer from South Africa called Spoek Mathambo to work on a song with me and after that I asked my friend Camilo Lara (Mexican Institute of Sound) to produce another song and that’s how this ended up being an EP with a lot of collaborators from different musical backgrounds. So there is a deeper meaning behind the single Un Sueño? I decided to write that song inspired by the 43 students from Ayotzinapa, Mexico that disappeared but it is not just about them, it’s about the thousands more that have disappeared in recent years and at the same time a tribute to their parents and family members who have not given up and keep demanding answers.

Which is your favorite song off of the EP? It changes. I’m really proud of Un Sueño. I think it took me to a different place and made me want to experiment more. Why is it important for you to speak on social issues in your songs? It’s what comes out of me. I somehow end up writing about all of these things I see happening around me, I can’t turn that off. I wish I was better at writing love songs. It’s an incredible talent to have but most of the time I end up writing about social issues. You got your start with “Tijuana No!” who also spoke on injustices. Are there any differences from your experience as a member of the band and as a solo artist now? With "Tijuana No!" I learned a lot. Thanks to them, I started looking at the world differently and it made me want to talk about things that I considered important and want to support causes that I thought were doing good work but we [Tijuana No!] approached the issues that we talked about in a very direct way. I wanted to do it differently. I like to do it through stories.

What was your reaction to the results of the U.S. election? How do you feel as a Latina who speaks on issues such as immigration and feminism? I was a little surprised. Maybe I was being naive but for the beginning of that afternoon I was hopeful that [Donald] Trump would not win. As the hours went by I little by little started losing faith and realizing what I’ve known for a very long time: that people fear and hate “the other." That his win is the result of a campaign of hate. Hate towards people of color, towards the LGBTQ community, towards women. Those are the things that brought most of his supporters together and now things are getting even scarier as we see who he is appointing to be part of his team. It’s a time to wake up. We have definitely hit rock bottom and now it’s time to stand up again. How was it working with Aloe Blacc, who has the meaningful hit song Wake Me Up? I’m a huge fan of Aloe’s. I think he’s an incredible artist and human being. He’s used music in a very unique way to talk about different social issues, has a strong sense of community and is super active with different organizations that do great work. That’s why I thought about him and he ended up being the perfect person to collaborate on this song [Un Sueño] with. What is your biggest piece of advice for young women who are scared to speak up and share their thoughts or opinions? That there are many people that think like they do and are willing to support them and speak up with them. This is not a time to keep quiet, it’s a time to scream at the top of our lungs. What’s next for Ceci Bastida? I’m excited to do shows to support this album next year in the U.S. and Mexico. I’m also doing some touring with a different band I play with called Mexrrissey. We are doing tours in the UK, Australia and New Zealand, that should be fun too.

Clarence Peters Ace video director attacks Headies nominations

The cinematographer has expressed his displeasure at the organisers of the award for not acknowledging major works of some directors. Capital Hill boss and video director Clarence Peters has called out the Headies for leaving out key video directors' work, mentioning Darey's 'Pray for me', and 'Kiss Daniel's 'Jombo'. A number of artistes including Tekno, Yung6ix and Solidstar have openly declared their reservations about aspects of the nominations they didn't find palatable. In an Instagram post, Clarence says: "In a year that these men gave us some of the most amazing visual interpretations mainly Darey's "Pray for me" by mexemania & Kiss Daniel's "Jombo" by ajefilmswork works, respectfully, it breaks my heart that The Headies don't deem it fit to recognize their outstanding work. To my brothers: from Dir Q, to adasacookey to Frizzle&Bizzle, from Gambit to LA, from Matt Max to Avalon to TOSIN IGHO, SESAN to MOE to MEJI etc .... We know what we put in. Awards don't define us, WE DEFINE POPULAR CULTURE not just in Nigeria, but across the continent, so I salute you all."

Lola Rae Singer's 'Biko' video featuring Davido hits 1 million views

The newly signed DMW artist records a milestone of one million Youtube views of her 'Biko' video in 10 days.

'Watch my ting go' singer Lola Rae fame is beaming with smiles as her video 'Biko' featuring Davido hits one million Youtube views in 10 days.

This makes it the second time a DMW artist gets a million Youtube views in 10 days of being uploaded to that platform. Mayorkun's 'Eleko' recorded this exact same feat, with music pundits being skeptical arguing that the views were bought. there was also an argument that the ‘Eleko’ music video, the first project released by Mayorkun, which gathered a million views in 10 days was not organic. He was of the opinion that the video which is a debut project from an unknown singer, can never organically be viewed a million times in 10 days.

Yung6ix Rapper’s tribe did not influence his failure to make the Headies list

Yung6ix’s talent is evident, and surely if he does it right every year, he will definitely get his time at the biggest stage The release of the Headies awards nomination list has been trailed with controversies, as many have found it unsatisfactory. Yung6ix leads the pack, as he called out the organisers of the awards show, accusing them of tribalism. The Warri rapper is definitely unhappy with the fact that he got no nominations, despite his musical efforts throughout the year. Yung6ix took to Twitter, to bare his mind on the issue. The 26-year-old argued that the organisers have intentionally overlooked his efforts, which he attributes to tribalism. Yung6ix is also convinced that his hit single, ‘Respek On My Name’ deserved to be nominated in the ‘Best Rap Single’ category. According to him, "'Respek On My Name' is the Biggest Hip Hop record this year #jstknw." As a young person operating in this industry, it can be quite galling to be passed over by awards and platforms designed to cater to that need. It’s a rough competition out in these streets, where everyone looks out for themselves and the ruthlessness that is manifested behind the scenes is heart-breaking. But to complain, you have to have worked. The Headies is designed to celebrate Nigerian music via the award ceremony. This they have done for the past 11 years, and effectively rewarded the best of the best that have passed through this industry. Name your favorite artistes. They all have Headies to their name. This edition has the year in review slated for ‘July 2015 – June 2016’. There’s not a lot of rocket science about it. If your material that was released within the period in review is entered into the competition, then it stands a fair chance to be nominated and perhaps to win. But you don’t win if you aren’t playing the game. Within the year in review Yung6ix put in work and dropped the 6-track “Billionaire Ambitions” EP. But the failure of any single from the EP to make the nominations list does not affect him. His chief concern lie in the failure of 'Respek My Name', a single released on July 31, 2016. The song is produced by Disally, and features DJ Timmy. A Trap-influenced song, “Respek On My Name”, has a vulnerable Yung6ix rapping on his exploits and how much he needs to be respected for doing his job right. It’s a great single to listen to, as Yung6ix, a credible MC, who claimed to have had a brush with death at the hands of fellow musician P.R.E brings it home. But the promotion faltered. Not a lot was done for the single, with the video appearing uninspired. It never charted, neither did it push the genre forward or possess some of the most defining raps that the year has seen. Yung6ix accuses the Headies of tribalism, but a flip through the category for Best Rap Single shows: EYAN MAYWEATHER – OLAMIDE ASAMALEKUN – REMINISCE JAGABAN – YCEE CHUKWU AGOZI GOGI – ILL BLISS AGU JI NDI MEN – A-Q SHOW YOU SOMETHING – BOOGEY Olamide, Reminisce and Ycee are Yoruba, with very deserving singles. Illbliss is from the East, and he has a very enviable record on the list. A-Q (Gilbert Bani) who has worked his heart out this year with a standout “Rose” album is from Abia State, and Boogey is from Cross River. Although tribalism does not officially affect the selction of nominees, but this particular category is one of the most tribally balanced. It’s understandable to be hurt and feel bad when excluded from the biggest stage. But any reaction and accusation of foul play has to be steeped in facts and figures. Yung6ix’s talent is evident, and surely if he does it right every year, he will definitely get his time at the biggest stage. Right now he isn’t on it, and his tribe didn’t influence his exclusion.

Dancing With the Stars Week 10: Who's Going to the Finals?

Another one bites the dust. After a Dancing With the Stars semi-finals night that saw what must've been the record for perfect score performances (TK in total!), as well as the season's most emotional moment when Laurie Hernandez revealed that her beloved grandma had passed away, it was time for Tom Bergeron to dash someone's dreams of winning the coveted Mirrorball Trophy. That someone? Terra Jole. The Little Women: LA star found herself in jeopardy alongside Calvin Johnson after earning two perfect scores and heaps of praise from the judges. Did the right person go home? We'll leave that to you to decide. Before we can look to the finals, where Calvin will face off against Jana Kramer, James Hinchcliffe, and Laurie Hernandez, let's break down each of tonight's dances. James Hinchcliffe and Sharna Burgess: 29/30 James was finally back with his original partner after Sharna was sidelined by her scary knee injury. They kicked things off with the Argentine tango, during which Sharna was blindfolded the entire time. All we can say is: Wow. His footwork. Her trust. His hand stand on that chair at the end. Just wow. We're not sure what "wobbles" Carrie Ann Inaba was talking about because we were too mesmerized by the oozing sexiness of the whole thing. Talk about starting the night on a high note. Jana Kramer and Gleb Savchenko: 28/30 These two looked like they were having a blast during their quickstep, and those white-to-pink ombre costumes might be some of our favorite things we've ever seen. Was the dance our favorite, too? Not quite. But it was fun. Calvin Johnson and Lindsay Arnold: 26/30 That bizarre wall o'hands and the aggressive attitude required for this tango never really synced up with Calvin the Charm Monster. And that wonky slip-up during the turn towards the end certainly didn't help matters. Good thing Calvin had another chance to dance tonight. Laurie Hernandez and Val Chmerkovskiy: 30/30 We could barely see Laurie and Val's foxtrot through our tears after learning that Laurie's beloved grandmother passed away this week. But what we did see was beautiful. The emotional highlight of the evening, by far. James, Sharna and Jenna Johnson: 30/30 For the trio round, it only made sense that these two chose Sharna's fill-in to join them in their jive. If you showed this dance to someone with no DWTS knowledge, they'd probably have a hard time figuring out who wasn't a pro. It was just that good. James hoped people would just keep their eyes on the car on the dance floor, but we couldn't take our eyes off his feet. That footwork was impeccable. Terra, Sasha, and Artem Chigvintsev: 30/30 It can't be easy to do the tango as a trio. It must be even harder to keep it sexy. But that's what Terra and her boys pulled off. She completely owned that performance, ruling the dance floor with a fiery snap of her fingers. Jana, Gleb, and Alan Bersten: 30/30 Jana went full Black Swan for her powerful paso doble, a complete 180 from her earlier performance. The concept Gleb designed for his partner was outstanding, possibly one of our favorites of the night. We didn't want it to end. Calvin, Lindsay, and Witney Carson: 30/30 Calvin's trio salsa was so much fun and much more in line with his bright personality, but after the massive performances that came in between his first and second dances, this couldn't help but feel a bit slight in comparison. Those lifts were out of this world and the enthusiasm was infectious, though. Laurie, Val, and Maks Chmerkovskiy: 30/30 What's better than one Chmerkovskiy brother? Two, of course! This samba was a blast, and the decision to highlight the wonderful chain of dance mentorship these three share was lovely. Knowing the loss Laurie's suffered this week, to watch her dance so triumphantly was incredible. It seems to us that she's the one to beat in next week's finals. Dancing With the Stars airs Mondays at 8 p.m. on ABC.

Why I Have 18 Children – Adebayo Salami ‘Oga Bello’

Adebayo Salami, commonly known as Oga Bello, could be regarded in an interview with Olushola Ricketts, he speaks on his journey into acting, having 18 children and his reaction to his son Femi Adebayo’s marriage. Read below: You’ve been acting for 52 years; do you plan to retire anytime soon? In life, there are stages, most especially, for an actor or any creative person. So, at a particular stage, you have to take things easy. But a creative person does not retire, because it is in you. If you fail to exhibit your talent, it will haunt you. I have never thought of quitting acting. I do not have reasons to regret; my fans still want more from me and I will not disappoint them. What is the most challenging role you’ve had to play in a movie? I have taken different parts, different roles in the past. There was a time I played the role of a wicked man in a movie, titled, ‘Ewo Kolewole’. It was really challenging, because I needed to convince people that it was not the usual Oga Bello they were used to. But since I started acting, it does not take me time to fit into any role. How did you stumble into acting? Did you inherit it? I am right to say it is hereditary, because my mother is a clown; she would be 100 years old this November. You would hardly be with her without laughing. Though, in their days, they did not have the opportunity to showcase their talents, I think I inherited the gift of acting from her. But my late father was a quiet person. So, your mother supported your decision to venture into acting? At that time, no parents wanted their children to be actors, when other children were lawyers, doctors and engineers. My parents did not support it in anyway; it was a tug of war. My parents even vowed to curse me with the Quran if I acted, but I thank God for today. For one who is popular in Nollywood; one would expect you to be very wealthy too. How lucrative has acting been for you? If I get a gift from someone, I would take it that I made it from acting, because he or she admires my work. All I can tell you is that I am fulfilled and I thank God. All that I wish to do, God has done it for me. At 64, what do you still wish to achieve? For us humans, we are never satisfied with what we have. But God has blessed me hugely. I just want to continue to make my fans happy, by educating and entertaining them. I do not think there is anything else I would like to achieve that I have not done. I have given my children quality education, I live in my house, and I have cars and good health. So, I am contented. Don’t you find it awkward sometimes that your stage name Oga Bello has taken over Adebayo Salami? When people call me Oga Bello, it means they appreciate my job. Though, at times, you might not be in the mood to answer people whenever they call you. But unfortunately, you have no choice than to acknowledge their greetings, regardless of the state of your mind. You have 18 children; will you encourage the younger ones to have such figure? I will not. The fact that I have many children is by destiny, because I did not plan for it. It happened when stardom came and there was nothing I could do. Female fans were all over me and one way or the other, they wanted to attach themselves to me. I was just doing it. Now, I believe it is my destiny, because God gave me all I needed to use to train them. But not everyone would have the grace or opportunity like Bello. So, I will not advise anyone to have many children. Apart from the present harsh situation of the economy, I will not even advise anyone to marry two wives. If I had my way, I would have loved to have a smaller family. But it is my destiny, like I said earlier. Why has it become extremely hard for celebrities to stay in marriage? It is possible that the couples are incompatible, when you look at things well. If two actors get married, it is always hard. As an actor, female fans always love to be around the husband, but most women cannot tolerate that for too long. If the celebrity wife cannot control herself too, she could go astray. For me, I will not encourage two celebrities to get married. It is preferable when they are doing different things. How did you react when your son, Femi, told you about getting married a second time? We have been looking forward to that. When his first wife left eight years ago, he did not want to marry anymore. But at his age, it is not good for him to be alone for the rest of his life. I really was disturbed. We kept on searching, hoping he gives marriage another chance, until he brought his new wife to us. I am happy he eventually did. Your children are already living your legacies; how does this make you feel? I thank God because such grace is uncommon. Coming into acting, I did not think that any of my children would take after me, not to talk of it happening while I am still alive. Do you wish to take a younger wife? Forget about that, maybe in my next life. How do you relax? I just listen to music. Whenever I am watching television, I watch movies, but I do not really like that. How does it feel watching yourself on the screen? I just try to look at how I played the role, the mistakes I make and how I could have made it better. I only watch to improve myself. Why don’t you feature in English movies? They do not invite me and I cannot lobby for it. Maybe they feel that my spoken English is not up to standard; I do not know honestly. But the fact is that I would give Yoruba movie more priority than English movies, because I like to promote my culture. My culture is who I am and where I belong to. But anytime I get invitations, I am ready. For me, acting is acting; the only difference is the medium of expression. If they invite me, I would surprise them. I have done more than eight English movies in the past. How would you love to be remembered? I want to be remembered for my good job and the messages I have passed on. I want the Oga Bello name to remain there and by the grace of God, I know my children will carry on from wherever I stop. What would you do better if given another chance to start afresh? I would love to be closer to my God. Maybe I will give acting 30 per cent, while God takes 70 per cent.

Amber Heard made a rare red carpet appearance for Glamour‘s Women of the Year awards in Los Angeles. At Monday’s event, the actress read words written by Emily Doe, the sexual assault victim of former Stanford University swimmer Brock Turner. The unnamed woman was recognized as one of the Women of the Year along with fellow honorees Gwen Stefani, Ashley Graham, Zendaya and the founders of the #BlackLivesMatter movement. Introduced by Lena Dunham, Heard, 30, was joined by actresses Gabourey Sidibe and Freida Pinto on stage. “I am here. I am not that floppy thing you found behind the garbage, speaking melted words,” Doe wrote in an essay published in the magazine earlier this month. “I am here, I can stand upright, I can speak clearly, I’ve been listening and am painfully aware of all the hurt you’ve been trying to justify.” Glamour previously had the cast of Girls perform Doe’s essay which described what happened after her powerful letter about Turner went viral. In May, Heard filed a domestic violence restraining order against then-husband Johnny Depp (which a judge granted) four days after filing for divorce from Depp after 15 months of marriage. In August, the former couple announced they had reached a divorce settlement outside of court, just one day before their scheduled restraining order hearing. The judge ultimately dismissed the domestic violence case against Depp and terminated the actor’s temporary restraining order. PEOPLE confirmed that Heard divided her full $7 million divorce settlement from Depp to a number of charities with “a particular focus to stop violence against women.”

According to Facebook user, Egwuatu Chukz, a Hausa man was caught stealing meat from a butcher’s shed in Ogbete market, Enugu state. The Hausa man was said to have casually strolled into the shed, brought out a sack and started stuffing large chunks of meat into it, completely ignoring the fact that there were other people around. According to the butchers, they had gathered and prayed over the ‘mysterious’ disappearance of meat from their shed, one week before he was caught in the act. He was also accused of using charms to perpetrate his crime.
Read what transpired according to Chukz, below: “BREAKING: NOTORIOUS HAUSA/FULANI MAN CAUGHT STEALING MEAT WITH THE AID OF CHARM IN THE POPULAR OGBETE MAIN MARKET. On 12th of November 2016 in the above named market in Enugu, Biafra land, a notorious Hausa/Fulani man was caught after stealing meat weighing over 22 pounds, at the market abattoir located at Akwata side.  Information reaching the family writers, states that this Hausa/Fulani man has been perpetrating this act for a long time, only that he used to be invisible when performing the evil operations, but as God may have it, one of the largest quantities of meat got missing, before he was caught today. The butchers in the area opened up to find out what has been behind the usual missing of meat, therefore the whole meat sellers teamed up together for fasting and prayer which lasted for five days. after their prayer some of the meat sellers (butchers) were convinced that the regular missing of their meat wasn’t an ordinary or physical issue to tackle, so they all teamed up to be vigilant both in the realm of physical and spiritual. In the morning of Saturday 12th of November 2016, at about 8:30am, about the time the butchers display meats for sale, a young man holding a sack walked in majestically towards the place where some of the meats were packed, and began to pack meat without anybody’s consent and after loading the huge amount of meat inside the sack he came with, he raised it on his head and started walking away with the meat. After moving about 12 feet ahead, one of the meat sellers called him back, and tried to interrogate him. The Hausa/Fulani man refused to answer and this drew the attention of the audience. After several attempts to stop the man, the crowd succeeded in stopping him and asked him how he managed to have access to the meat and he couldn’t give any reasonable answer to the questions. Few minutes after he was caught, his clothes were collected from him and the crowd saw some african charms which he tied onto his arm and leg. The charms were  forcefully removed from his body to stop him from disappearing. He confessed that he has been doing this for quite some time and during all his operations, he uses the charms to transform himself into an invisible being and that’s how he makes his own money and business by roasting the stolen meat for sale which is popular called “Suya meat” in Nigeria.” Na wa oo
